Oil and gas industry making risky play in response to greenwashing law, experts say

On Thursday, June 20, Canadian Oil and Gas leaders, notably the Pathways Alliance, also tore down web and social media content and uploaded online disclaimers. These leaders cite a “serious threat to freedom of communications.”

Wren Montgomery was consulted on the amendment and notes that this change “follows established patterns of competition rules.” “What the Competition Bureau has always done is make sure companies aren’t fooling or lying to Canadians.” At a time where “futurewashing” is pervasive, Wren believes the legislation is important and timely.
